Starting Your Internet Business
First Things First
Your successful retirement business begins with you and especially your attitude. You have to have the "Why" and the "Passion" to develop a successful business. Sure you can decide to take a couple of courses on building an Internet Business including learning marketing and technical skills.
You can even have a great idea or product identified but unless take ownership and truly believe in what you are doing you won't be massively successful in developing your online business. You need something that will sustain you during the tough and uncertain times which will occur, especially in the beginning of your new venture as an internet entrepreneur. I believe that having a (VAP) will be that something.
VAP stands for Value Added Purpose. These words can dramatically change your life. If you have a Value Added Purpose you will create a destination for your road map to success in your personal life and your business. Notice I said "In your personal life and your business". There are two components Personal and Business) to your VAP. Let me explain:
Establish Your Personal VAP
Your personal VAP is the reason for your enthusiasm, passion, happiness, drive, focus, etc. in your life. It is reason for your success because you are adding value and human beings want to feel they have value in their life. This is especially true for someone who is retired. When you know your Value Added Purpose in life you can tailor you business to compliment and support your personal VAP, but first you have to think about what you want to give back through your accomplishments in life. This will change as time passes so it is important to reassess your VAP every few years.
- What is your Value Added Purpose in your personal life?
- What are your personal goals; where do you want to be 5 yrs from now?
- What do you want to have and what do you want to contribute that adds value to your life and others?
- What is your unique purpose in life?
Sit down with pen and paper and think about your personal VAP and write it down. The second component is your business VAP.
Establish Your Business VAP
Your business VAP consists of two parts, your personal VAP and your customer VAP. Both are equally important for your internet business to be successful. If you have a personal VAP you will know why you are in business.
Understanding the customer VAP will keep you in business and the business growing. Your businesses survival is dependent on serving your customer and successful businesses provide value-added products and services. When you understand your VAP to your customer you will create a business which stands above you competitors and the rewards personally and financially will be greater.
Become A Success Thinker
As I defined it earlier a Success Thinker is a person who is committed to their growth both personally and through business ownership. That person will invest in information and knowledge to build their personal and business skills especially if it will accelerate their business growth. This is very important point for those of us who were taught to work all our lives for someone else because being a Success Thinker requires a different mindset.
To a Success Thinker failure is not in their vocabulary or thoughts. To insure that they will be successful they will invest in strengthening their knowledge and skills in the four areas that are important to their business. These four areas are personal skills, entrepreneurial skills, internet marketing skills, and internet technical skills.
As I said in the beginning "Having the right attitude is extremely important when you are developing an internet business when you are retired". A successful internet retirement business is a business which is selling products and services people want and provides profitability and growth which will expand the retiree's life style not just sustains it. It beats having a JOB in retirement because working at a job for someone else is not retirement.
