Investing in Yourself

This is an interesting topic because there is a lot of resistance around spending time or money improving yourself. If you're younger it's not cool to study, learn, and develop your personal and business skills. Unfortunately peer pressure plays a big role. When you are older a lot of people don't want to learn new skills or they feel they already know the subject. In between you are not even thinking about investing in yourself because you are to busy with your job, family, and relaxing (if you can fit it in).

Time plays a big part here or lack of it. How many times have you heard someone say, or you have said it yourself "I can't find the time to take that course or read that book".

The second problem is that we think that after graduating from school, whether it's high school or college we have learned all we need to learn to be successful in this world. We have been taught that the purpose of education is to prepare us to work for someone else at a JOB.  You are not taught how to be a business owner, an entrepreneur, or what I call Success Thinker. In fact we as a country right now think just the opposite. Our media is crammed with stories about failure and if you are successful at making money you don't deserve it and the politicians want to take that success away through laws and taxes.

Become a Success Thinker

Ok, I am sure you get the point. It is time to begin investing in yourself. I'm not necessarily talking about committing to going back to school for a degree. I am talking about becoming a Success Thinker.

I define someone who is a Success Thinker as a person who is committed to their growth both personally and through business ownership.  A Success Thinker does not buy in to the media's message and the politician's tax, regulate and spend strategy. That person is someone who knows that you need to understand and leverage knowledge and information to grow. That person is willing to pay for other people's knowledge and information to build their personal and business skills especially if it will accelerate their business growth. By improving their knowledge and skills in both areas their success in both areas will increase over time. I say over time because investing in yourself should be an ongoing process.

How does this relate to building your own online internet business? Because our focus has been working at a job instead of being an entrepreneur we need to strengthen our skills and the four areas that are important are personal skills, entrepreneurial skills, and internet marketing skills, and internet technical skills. Remember, we are talking about building a successful internet business not going into business on the internet. A successful business means you are running a successful online business that is marketing and selling products and services people want  and is massively profitable and growing.

A Change of Focus

Let's look at each area and discuss why I think each is important to your success. Please remember that I'm not saying you have to have all these skills before you start your business.  I am saying they are all important and you should prioritize those that are the most important to your success.

Personal skills - Structure, discipline, organization, energy, attitude, goals, plans, synergy, action, and time management skills are all important to running an internet business. Get started. Register for free training now!!!

I would like to make two points here. The first is that " You do not need all of these skills to run an internet business, you do need these skills to run a massively successful business". The second thing is "You don't have to have to be 100% proficient in all these skills and you don't have to have all of them before you start. Start your business with the skills you currently have, prioritize the ones you need and take action.
